Shopping Tips For Busy Moms

by Eli Schmidt

When you're a busy mom, shopping can start to feel like quite a burdensome chore. You have a lot to buy, from groceries to diapers, but you don't necessarily have a lot of time you can dedicate to shopping around, finding the best deals, and comparing products. Is it possible to shop without dedicating a whole day to it? Yes! Start by following these shopping tips for busy moms.

If the grocery store has it, buy it there

You might be able to get a better deal on items like toilet paper and detergent at a home goods store rather than a grocery store, but this would mean you have to visit another store just to buy these products. The cost difference is not usually more than a dollar or two, so unless you are really strapped for cash, just buy these things while you're at the grocery store. You have to shop for groceries anyway, so while you're there, pick up anything else you need that the grocery store happens to have.

Download stores' apps

Most grocery stores, clothing stores, and home goods stores have their own apps. Take the time to download the apps for the stores you visit most often. Inside these apps, you can usually access additional coupons and discounts. Some apps may even allow you to scan items as you go through the store, saving you time at checkout. This is so much more efficient than cutting paper coupons at home or trying to use various third-party apps to save you additional dollars in your wallet.

When possible, pre-order for pickup

Many stores now let you order your items online and then pick them up in-store. Use this option when it's available. You won't have to spend time walking through the store with your kids. You also won't be as tempted to impulse buy things you don't need, either.

Shop more, less often

Instead of grocery shopping once a week, try shopping every other week. The same goes for clothing shopping and other shopping trips. It's worth spending a little more time to plan and buy more at once if it saves you another visit to the store later on.

When you're a busy mom, shopping is all about making the most of your time. The tips above can really help you do that. Over time, you will settle into a rhythm and figure out what shopping tips work for you and your family. Keep these tips in mind next time you go shopping.
